If love could have kept him here, Marley would have lived forever.

This April, Marley would have turned 13… thirteen beautiful years of sweetness, loyalty, and light. A beloved lab mix with big brown eyes and an even bigger heart, Marley was the definition of a good boy. Sweet. Happy. Smart. And yes… just a little bit bossy.

Marley loved people more than anything. Other dogs were fine, but humans? Humans were his favorite. Especially if they had hands available for petting. With one look from those deep, soulful brown eyes, you were officially trapped; lovingly manipulated into giving him an unreasonable (but completely deserved) amount of rubs. And you didn’t mind. No one ever did.

He was more than a pet, he was a shadow. Wherever I went, Marley was there. Every step. Every room. Every season of life. When the days felt heavy and depression tried to settle in, Marley showed up with quiet devotion and steady love. He lifted me in ways I can’t fully put into words. He got me through some of my hardest times simply by being Marley. Steady. Faithful. Present, Warm, and full of light. Through every season, every high, every heavy moment, his spirit was gentle.

There was something about him that brought joy into every space he entered. People felt it immediately. His happiness was contagious. His love was effortless. His spirit was bright. God knew exactly what He was doing when He placed Marley in my life. He wasn’t just a dog, he was comfort, companionship, and quiet strength wrapped in fur.

Marley wasn’t just a good dog. He was my heart walking beside me.

Though our time together wasn’t long enough, it was full; full of tail wags, soulful stares, soft moments, and unconditional love. Home feels different now, quieter somehow, empty. But the love he gave remains. It always will. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but I believe with all my heart he was welcomed into heaven by the same God who created him so perfectly. Scripture tells us that every good and perfect gift comes from above, and Marley was one of the sweetest gifts I’ve ever received.

Until then, I carry him with me in gratitude, in memory, and in the light he left behind.

Run free, sweet Marley.
Thank you for being my light. 🌈🐾
